Introduction
All unlimited and metered Virtual Office extensions come with a
Broadband Phone Adapter
and feature rich pre-programmed
Virtual Office phone.
These phones are connected to the Packet8 Virtual Office service via the Internet using the
included adapter. Since all calls are transferred over the Internet, Virtual Office extensions
can be located anywhere in the world and include unlimited extension-to-extension dialing.

Once the system is configured and phones are plugged in, you're done. After a simple activation
process, you can start making and receiving calls. All the great features of Packet8 service,
including ring group, voicemail, auto-attendant, extension dialing and call management features
are immediately available and ready for use.

To install your Virtual Office equipment, follow these easy steps:
- Using the standard Ethernet cable that comes with your Packet8 Broadband Phone Adapter, plug one end into the RJ45 LAN port on your Internet modem or router.
NOTE: The adapters are programmed from the factory with DHCP enabled. For static configurations, see to the Packet8 Support page.
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the jack on the back of the adapter labeled "LAN/WAN".
- If needed, take the cable that is connected to your computer from the wall and plug into the back of the adapter labeled "LAN/WAN.". This will extend your network to the necessary ports for your Packet8 business services.
- Connect the appropriate end of the adapter power cord to the jack labeled "DC IN" and then plug the other end of the cord into an electrical outlet.
- (Using the included standard RJ-11 telephone wire), connect the supplied Packet8 analog telephone to the adapter jack labeled "line 1".
- To activate your account, go online and log onto your account on the Packet8 Self Service Portal. (Packet8 business services activation is different from activation for our residential services.)
- Configure your PBX by entering your Company Name and Company ID.
- Configure each extension by clicking on the "Configure" button. After configuring the individual extension, you can activate your Packet8 business service by clicking the "Activate" button.
- You will be asked to enter the MAC number off the bottom of your Packet8 broadband adapter.
- Once you submit that information, your account should be active within 10 minutes. (If you pick up the handset and don't hear a dial tone, please see Packet8's Support web page for trouble-shooting.)
